Asking Voters To “Stay Home”
If you are upset with the candidate you expected to vote for but don’t like his opponent either, it is still illogical to not vote. Unless you wouldn’t have voted anyway for other reasons, or you truly have no preference. Not voting is equivalent to giving the opponent of the candidate who you are upset with a half a vote. And increasing his chances of winning. If you are OK with that than the logical move is to vote for the opponent. If not the logical move is to vote for your original choice. Staying home as some kind of protest is mathematically moronic, especially if it can’t be tracked.
