Even Rolls Royce Has Cramped Back Seats?
I understand the expensive sportscars with the tiny back seats and zero legroom. There is some tax reason to have them rather than have the car be strictly a two seater. Plus they can be used for storage and can even transport somebody in an emergency. But I see no reason why regular coupes and sometimes sedans are often so stingy with backseat legroom. Its not a matter of money in most cases as these are often expensive cars. There is a lot more room than what there is in a sportscar. In fact if the people up front are small and have their seats pushed all the way up the back seat room is sufficient.
But usually a back seat rider has to endure his knees up against the seat in front. I don’t get it. Perhaps the car looks a tiny bit more spiffy with the narrow legroom but it amazes me that people wouldn’t almost all prefer a couple of more inches so that the back seat riders would be comfortable. And in fact I noticed that was usually the case for the most expensive cars. Even their coupes have backseat legroom.
And then just the other day I spot a brand new Rolls Royce coupe in the Bellagio valet with the same problem. It boggled my mind.
I know this all seems trivial but in a way it isn’t. Because it means that people are so concerned with how things look that they are willing to endure significant discomfort gor a tiny visual appeal. That now evidently includes many rich people too.
