Most Disturbing Aspect To John Edwards Saga
Its not that he cheated on his cancer sticken wife and had a baby with another woman. Or that he publicly denied it. Or that he was willing to become president knowing it might all be exposed.
Those are all bad. But I would like to suggest something else. If you watched Edwards denials you will notice that he talked with a sincerity that is exactly of the same style as his public political pronouncements. Clinton did the same thing regarding Monica Lewinsky.
Normal people give off pretty big hints that they just might be lying from their style of speech. Conversely when they are definitely telling the truth we can usually sense it in their delivery. But Clinton and Edwards have shown that they, and very likely most politicians, have a talent for lying that rivals Academy Award winners. Thus we now know that not only WILL poloticians lie if they need to, but also that we can’t trust our usual instincts when they speak about anything.
